Mangochi is a famous Rajasthani traditional main coarse dish for lunch . Its different in recipe and taste from besan pakore kadhi .

Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Mangochi (Moong Dal Kadhi):

  1. For Moong Dal Pakore :
  2. 1 cup moong dal (yellow)
  3. 1 tsp Ginger paste
  4. 1/2 tsp Salt
  5. 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  6. 1/8 tsp asafoetodia
  7. 1 tsp dried coriander powder
  8. 1 cup or needed Oil for frying
  9. For Curry (Gravy) :
  10. 2 cup whisk curd
  11. 2 cup water
  12. 1/8 tsp asafoetodia
  13. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  14. 2 cloves
  15. 1 tbsp desi ghee
  16. 1 tsp or to taste salt
  17. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  18. 1/2 tsp gram masala
  19. 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  20. For Garnishing :
  21. 1 tbsp desi ghee n red chilli powder (tadka)
  22. 1 tsp coriander leaves

Instructions to make to make Mangochi (Moong Dal Kadhi)

  1. For Pakore :
    Wash n sokked dal for overnight. Drained water and make smooth paste. If needed mix little water.
  2. Transfer into mixing bowl. add ginger paste, salt,red chilli powder, dried coriander powder and 1/8 tsp asafoetodia. Mix well. Take out 1 tbsp dal batter for gravy keep aside.
  3. Rest batter whisk gently for 2-3 minutes and make smooth batter for Pakodas (Fritters)
  4. On high flame heat oil in a wok. Make pakore with hand or spoon one by one on medium flame.
  5. Deep frying until becomes turned into light golden in colour. Take out in absorbent sheet. Switch off the flame.
  6. Immediately all Pakodas soaked in water for 15 minutes.
  7. For Gravy or Curry :
    In mixing bowl add 1 tbsp dal batter and sieve the whisk curd water and turmeric powder. Mix well.
  8. On high flame heat ghee in a wok. Add asafoetodia, clove and cumin seeds saute for 30 seconds then it crackled pour curd mixture. On simmer stirred continously until becomes one boiled. Now cook on medium flame for 2 minutes add salt and stirred occasionally.
  9. Now drain water from the Pakodas. Squeezed nicely the Pakodas and remove excess water.
  10. Add all Pakodas in gravy. Cook on medium flame for 5 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Now add garam masala and coriander leaves. Mangochi is ready to serve. Turn off the flame.
  11. Transfer into serving bowl and garnish with red chilli ghee tadka and coriander leaves. Serve wih Roti (chapati), rice, sbji and pickle. Enjoy!
